Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum) with self-watering pot

The Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum) is an arching, grass-leafed houseplant striped in green and white, known for sending out long runners dotted with small "spiderette" plantlets that dangle off the parent plant like little hanging babies. It's one of the few genuinely pet-safe houseplants available, non-toxic to cats and dogs, which makes it a rare pick for households that can't take a chance on a mildly toxic aroid. This listing comes potted in a self-watering pot, so its already easy-going nature gets paired with an even easier watering routine.

Spider Plant Care Guide

☀️ Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal, though it tolerates a range of light levels. Avoid direct sun, it can scorch and fade the leaf stripes.

💧 Water: Water when the top 5 cm of soil is dry, roughly weekly. With the self-watering pot, keep the reservoir filled and let the plant draw water as needed, its thick roots store moisture well.

🌡️ Humidity and temperature: Prefers higher humidity and 15-27°C. Keep away from cold drafts and heating vents.

🪴 Soil: A well-draining potting mix prevents root rot.

🌱 Fertilizing: Balanced, water-soluble fertilizer monthly in spring and summer. Skip it in winter.

✂️ Pruning and repotting: Trim brown leaf tips and spent spiderette stems as needed. Repot every 1 to 2 years, it's a vigorous grower that fills a pot quickly.
